The SEO Handbook

Keywords

1

Keywords in <title> tag

This is one of the most important places to have a keyword because what is written inside the <title> tag shows in search results as your page title. The title tag must be short (6 or 7 words at most) and the the keyword must be near the beginning.

+3

2

Keywords in URL

Keywords in URLs help a lot – e.g. – http://domainname.com/seo-services.html, where “SEO services” is the keyword phrase you attempt to rank well for. But if you don’t have the keywords in other parts of the document, don’t rely on having them in the URL.

+3

3

Keyword density in document text

Another very important factor you need to check. 3-7 % for major keywords is best, 1-2 for minor. Keyword density of over 10% is suspicious and looks more like keyword stuffing, than a naturally written text.

+3

4

Keywords in anchor text

Also very important, especially for the anchor text of inbound links, because if you have the keyword in the anchor text in a link from another site, this is regarded as getting a vote from this site not only about your site in general, but about the keyword in particular.

+3

5

Keywords in headings (<H1>, <H2>, etc. tags)

One more place where keywords count a lot. But beware that your page has actual text about the particular keyword.

+3

6

Keywords in the beginning of a document

Also counts, though not as much as anchor text, title tag or headings. However, have in mind that the beginning of a document does not necessarily mean the first paragraph – for instance if you use tables, the first paragraph of text might be in the second half of the table.

+2

7

Keywords in <alt> tags

Spiders don’t read images but they do read their textual descriptions in the <alt> tag, so if you have images on your page, fill in the <alt> tag with some keywords about them.

+2

8

Keywords in metatags

Less and less important, especially for Google. Yahoo! and Bing still rely on them, so if you are optimizing for Yahoo! or Bing, fill these tags properly. In any case, filling these tags properly will not hurt, so do it.

+1

9

Keyword proximity

Keyword proximity measures how close in the text the keywords are. It is best if they are immediately one after the other (e.g. “dog food”), with no other words between them. For instance, if you have “dog” in the first paragraph and “food” in the third paragraph, this also counts but not as much as having the phrase “dog food” without any other words in between. Keyword proximity is applicable for keyword phrases that consist of 2 or more words.

+1

10

Keyword phrases

In addition to keywords, you can optimize for keyword phrases that consist of several words – e.g. “SEO services”. It is best when the keyword phrases you optimize for are popular ones, so you can get a lot of exact matches of the search string but sometimes it makes sense to optimize for 2 or 3 separate keywords (“SEO” and “services”) than for one phrase that might occasionally get an exact match.

+1

11

Secondary keywords

Optimizing for secondary keywords can be a golden mine because when everybody else is optimizing for the most popular keywords, there will be less competition (and probably more hits) for pages that are optimized for the minor words. For instance, “real estate new jersey” might have thousand times less hits than “real estate” only but if you are operating in New Jersey, you will get less but considerably better targeted traffic.

+1

12

Keyword stemming

For English this is not so much of a factor because words that stem from the same root (e.g. dog, dogs, doggy, etc.) are considered related and if you have “dog” on your page, you will get hits for “dogs” and “doggy” as well, but for other languages keywords stemming could be an issue because different words that stem from the same root are considered as not related and you might need to optimize for all of them.

+1

13

Synonyms

Optimizing for synonyms of the target keywords, in addition to the main keywords. This is good for sites in English, for which search engines are smart enough to use synonyms as well, when ranking sites but for many other languages synonyms are not taken into account, when calculating rankings and relevancy.

+1

14

Keyword Mistypes

Spelling errors are very frequent and if you know that your target keywords have popular misspellings or alternative spellings (i.e. Christmas and Xmas), you might be tempted to optimize for them. Yes, this might get you some more traffic but having spelling mistakes on your site does not make a good impression, so you’d better don’t do it, or do it only in the metatags.

0

15

Keyword dilution

When you are optimizing for an excessive amount of keywords, especially unrelated ones, this will affect the performance of all your keywords and even the major ones will be lost (diluted) in the text.

-2

16

Keyword stuffing

Any artificially inflated keyword density (10% and over) is keyword stuffing and you risk getting banned from search engines.

-3

Links – internal, inbound, outbound

17

Anchor text of inbound links

As discussed in the Keywords section, this is one of the most important factors for good rankings. It is best if you have a keyword in the anchor text but even if you don’t, it is still OK.

+3

18

Origin of inbound links

Besides the anchor text, it is important if the site that links to you is a reputable one or not. Generally sites with greater Google PR are considered reputable.

+3

19

Links from similar sites

Having links from similar sites is very, very useful. It indicates that the competition is voting for you and you are popular within your topical community.

+3

20

Links from .edu and .gov sites

These links are precious because .edu and .gov sites are more reputable than .com. .biz, .info, etc. domains. Additionally, such links are hard to obtain.

+3

21

Number of backlinks

Generally the more, the better. But the reputation of the sites that link to you is more important than their number. Also important is their anchor text, is there a keyword in it, how old are they, etc.

+3

22

Anchor text of internal links

This also matters, though not as much as the anchor text of inbound links.

+2

23

Around-the-anchor text

The text that is immediately before and after the anchor text also matters because it further indicates the relevance of the link – i.e. if the link is artificial or it naturally flows in the text.

+2

24

Age of inbound links

The older, the better. Getting many new links in a short time suggests buying them.

+2

25

Links from directories

Great, though it strongly depends on which directories. Being listed in DMOZ, Yahoo Directory and similar directories is a great boost for your ranking but having tons of links from PR0 directories is useless and it can even be regarded as link spamming, if you have hundreds or thousands of such links.

+2

26

Number of outgoing links on the page that links to you

The fewer, the better for you because this way your link looks more important.

+1

27

Named anchors

Named anchors (the target place of internal links) are useful for internal navigation but are also useful for SEO because you stress additionally that a particular page, paragraph or text is important. In the code, named anchors look like this: <A href= “#dogs”>Read about dogs</A> and “#dogs” is the named anchor.

+1

28

IP address of inbound link

Google denies that they discriminate against links that come from the same IP address or C class of addresses, so for Google the IP address can be considered neutral to the weight of inbound links. However, Bing and Yahoo! may discard links from the same IPs or IP classes, so it is always better to get links from different IPs.

+1

29

Inbound links from link farms and other suspicious sites

This does not affect you in any way, provided that the links are not reciprocal. The idea is that it is beyond your control to define what a link farm links to, so you don’t get penalized when such sites link to you because this is not your fault but in any case you’d better stay away from link farms and similar suspicious sites.

0

30

Many outgoing links

Google does not like pages that consists mainly of links, so you’d better keep them under 100 per page. Having many outgoing links does not get you any benefits in terms of ranking and could even make your situation worse.

-1

31

Excessive linking, link spamming

It is bad for your rankings, when you have many links to/from the same sites (even if it is not a cross- linking scheme or links to bad neighbors) because it suggests link buying or at least spamming. In the best case only some of the links are taken into account for SEO rankings.

-1

32

Outbound links to link farms and other suspicious sites

Unlike inbound links from link farms and other suspicious sites, outbound links to bad neighbors can drown you. You need periodically to check the status of the sites you link to because sometimes good sites become bad neighbors and vice versa.

-3

33

Cross-linking

Cross-linking occurs when site A links to site B, site B links to site C and site C links back to site A. This is the simplest example but more complex schemes are possible. Cross-linking looks like disguised reciprocal link trading and is penalized.

-3

34

Single pixel links

when you have a link that is a pixel or so wide it is invisible for humans, so nobody will click on it and it is obvious that this link is an attempt to manipulate search engines.

-3

Metatags

35

<Description> metatag

Metatags are becoming less and less important but if there are metatags that still matter, these are the <description> and <keywords> ones. Use the <Description> metatag to write the description of your site. Besides the fact that metatags still rock on Bing and Yahoo!, the <Description> metatag has one more advantage – it sometimes pops in the description of your site in search results.

+1

36

<Keywords> metatag

The <Keywords> metatag also matters, though as all metatags it gets almost no attention from Google and some attention from Bing and Yahoo! Keep the metatag reasonably long – 10 to 20 keywords at most. Don’t stuff the <Keywords> tag with keywords that you don’t have on the page, this is bad for your rankings.

+1

37

<Language> metatag

If your site is language-specific, don’t leave this tag empty. Search engines have more sophisticated ways of determining the language of a page than relying on the <language>metatag but they still consider it.

+1

38

<Refresh> metatag

The <Refresh> metatag is one way to redirect visitors from your site to another. Only do it if you have recently migrated your site to a new domain and you need to temporarily redirect visitors. When used for a long time, the <refresh> metatag is regarded as unethical practice and this can hurt your ratings. In any case, redirecting through 301 is much better.

-1

Content

39

Unique content

Having more content (relevant content, which is different from the content on other sites both in wording and topics) is a real boost for your site’s rankings.

+3

40

Frequency of content change

Frequent changes are favored. It is great when you constantly add new content but it is not so great when you only make small updates to existing content.

+3

41

Keywords font size

When a keyword in the document text is in a larger font size in comparison to other on-page text, this makes it more noticeable, so therefore it is more important than the rest of the text. The same applies to headings (<h1>, <h2>, etc.), which generally are in larger font size than the rest of the text.

+2

42

Keywords formatting

Bold and italic are another way to emphasize important words and phrases. However, use bold, italic and larger font sizes within reason because otherwise you might achieve just the opposite effect.

+2

43

Age of document

Recent documents (or at least regularly updated ones) are favored.

+2

44

File size

Generally long pages are not favored, or at least you can achieve better rankings if you have 3 short rather than 1 long page on a given topic, so split long pages into multiple smaller ones.

+1

45

Content separation

From a marketing point of view content separation (based on IP, browser type, etc.) might be great but for SEO it is bad because when you have one URL and differing content, search engines get confused what the actual content of the page is.

-2

46

Poor coding and design

Search engines say that they do not want poorly designed and coded sites, though there are hardly sites that are banned because of messy code or ugly images but when the design and/or coding of a site is poor, the site might not be indexable at all, so in this sense poor code and design can harm you a lot.

-2

47

Illegal Content

Using other people’s copyrighted content without their permission or using content that promotes legal violations can get you kicked out of search engines.

-3

48

Invisible text

This is a black hat SEO practice and when spiders discover that you have text specially for them but not for humans, don’t be surprised by the penalty.

-3

49

Cloaking

Cloaking is another illegal technique, which partially involves content separation because spiders see one page (highly-optimized, of course), and everybody else is presented with another version of the same page.

-3

50

Doorway pages

Creating pages that aim to trick spiders that your site is a highly-relevant one when it is not, is another way to get the kick from search engines.

-3

51

Duplicate content

When you have the same content on several pages on the site, this will not make your site look larger because the duplicate content penalty kicks in. To a lesser degree duplicate content applies to pages that reside on other sites but obviously these cases are not always banned – i.e. article directories or mirror sites do exist and prosper.

-3

Visual Extras and SEO

52

JavaScript

If used wisely, it will not hurt. But if your main content is displayed through JavaScript, this makes it more difficult for spiders to follow and if JavaScript code is a mess and spiders can’t follow it, this will definitely hurt your ratings.

0

53

Images in text

Having a text-only site is so boring but having many images and no text is a SEO sin. Always provide in the <alt> tag a meaningful description of an image but don’t stuff it with keywords or irrelevant information.

0

54

Podcasts and videos

Podcasts and videos are becoming more and more popular but as with all non-textual goodies, search engines can’t read them, so if you don’t have the tapescript of the podcast or the video, it is as if the podcast or movie is not there because it will not be indexed by search engines.

0

55

Images instead of text links

Using images instead of text links is bad, especially when you don’t fill in the <alt> tag. But even if you fill in the <alt> tag, it is not the same as having a bold, underlined, 16-pt. link, so use images for navigation only if this is really vital for the graphic layout of your site.

-1

56

Frames

Frames are very, very bad for SEO. Avoid using them unless really necessary.

-2

57

Flash

Spiders don’t index the content of Flash movies, so if you use Flash on your site, don’t forget to give it an alternative textual description.

-2

58

A Flash home page

Fortunately this epidemic disease seems to have come to an end. Having a Flash home page (and sometimes whole sections of your site) and no HTML version, is a SEO suicide.

-3

Domains, URLs, Web Mastery

59

Keyword-rich URLs and filenames

A very important factor, especially for Yahoo! and Bing.

+3

60

Site Accessibility

Another fundamental issue, which that is often neglected. If the site (or separate pages) is unaccessible because of broken links, 404 errors, password-protected areas and other similar reasons, then the site simply can’t be indexed.

+3

61

Sitemap

It is great to have a complete and up-to-date sitemap, spiders love it, no matter if it is a plain old HTML sitemap or the special Google sitemap format.

+2

62

Site size

Spiders love large sites, so generally it is the bigger, the better. However, big sites become user-unfriendly and difficult to navigate, so sometimes it makes sense to separate a big site into a couple of smaller ones. On the other hand, there are hardly sites that are penalized because they are 10,000+ pages, so don’t split your size in pieces only because it is getting larger and larger.

+2

63

Site age

Similarly to wine, older sites are respected more. The idea is that an old, established site is more trustworthy (they have been around and are here to stay) than a new site that has just poped up and might soon disappear.

+2

64

Site theme

It is not only keywords in URLs and on page that matter. The site theme is even more important for good ranking because when the site fits into one theme, this boosts the rankings of all its pages that are related to this theme.

+2

65

File Location on Site

File location is important and files that are located in the root directory or near it tend to rank better than files that are buried 5 or more levels below.

+1

66

Domains versus subdomains, separate domains

Having a separate domain is better – i.e. instead of having blablabla.blogspot.com, register a separate blablabla.com domain.

+1

67

Top-level domains (TLDs)

Not all TLDs are equal. There are TLDs that are better than others. For instance, the most popular TLD – .com – is much better than .ws, .biz, or .info domains but (all equal) nothing beats an old .edu or .org domain.

+1

68

Hyphens in URLs

Hyphens between the words in an URL increase readability and help with SEO rankings. This applies both to hyphens in domain names and in the rest of the URL.

+1

69

URL length

Generally doesn’t matter but if it is a very long URL-s, this starts to look spammy, so avoid having more than 10 words in the URL (3 or 4 for the domain name itself and 6 or 7 for the rest of address is acceptable).

0

70

IP address

Could matter only for shared hosting or when a site is hosted with a free hosting provider, when the IP or the whole C-class of IP addresses is blacklisted due to spamming or other illegal practices.

0

71

Adsense will boost your ranking

Adsense is not related in any way to SEO ranking. Google will definitely not give you a ranking bonus because of hosting Adsense ads. Adsense might boost your income but this has nothing to do with your search rankings.

0

72

Adwords will boost your ranking

Similarly to Adsense, Adwords has nothing to do with your search rankings. Adwords will bring more traffic to your site but this will not affect your rankings in whatsoever way.

0

73

Hosting downtime

Hosting downtime is directly related to accessibility because if a site is frequently down, it can’t be indexed. But in practice this is a factor only if your hosting provider is really unreliable and has less than 97-98% uptime.

-1

74

Dynamic URLs

Spiders prefer static URLs, though you will see many dynamic pages on top positions. Long dynamic URLs (over 100 characters) are really bad and in any case you’d better use a tool to rewrite dynamic URLs in something more human- and SEO-friendly.

-1

75

Session IDs

This is even worse than dynamic URLs. Don’t use session IDs for information that you’d like to be indexed by spiders.

-2

76

Bans in robots.txt

If indexing of a considerable portion of the site is banned, this is likely to affect the nonbanned part as well because spiders will come less frequently to a “noindex” site.

-2

77

Redirects (301 and 302)

When not applied properly, redirects can hurt a lot – the target page might not open, or worse – a redirect can be regarded as a black hat technique, when the visitor is immediately taken to a different page.

How to create clickable images

How To Get High PR Backlinks

Thanks Ravanger!

For the last couple of days i’ve been working and studying a lot on link building techniques and strategies. The sources of my study are from BHW, Google and some thinking effort. Certainly there will be some of you who know better than me and already know of these. Its just a share on personally what i think is easy and a solid way to get links.

Technique 1
So we all know of Angela and the quality of her links. But we donna how she really searches for this quality links. So i was going through a post of Angela in warrior forum and noticed she using a signature link and it was a article from her on GOArticles. I read her article and checked the PR and guess what, its PR 5. Went and checked her backlinks and it was 1900+ in backlinkwatch. So here is the URL of her article and check her backlinks and i am quite sure for most of the linking sites we could try too add our link as well.

http://www.goarticles.com/cgi-bin/showa.cgi?C=1151743

if you have noticed she usually uses the profile AngelaE8654. In Google with inverted commas search for her profile and you get 15000 results. But its obvious for not all sites you could place your link but for most of em you could.

“AngelaE8654″

Use roboform which is a addon from Mozilla (but actually i don’t use it). Which allows you to autofill your registration process.

  • Sign Up with the forum and place your link at Signatures, Homepage and profile messages. (Only sign up with forums that publicly allow you to access forum member profiles and threads).
  • Dont go to post any comments coz you’ll end up bieng a publicly known spammer, just copy your profile URL and start pinging and socialbookmarking the URL. (refer “Things to remember” at the end)
  • Remember to check for Do follow forums. To check Dofollow or Nofollow use a plugin called SearchStatus for Mozilla.

How you could search for forums?

    Method 1

    1. Go to Google
    2. Type a keyword
    3. Click on “Show Options”
    4. Click on” Forums”

    Method 2

    1. Go to Google
    2. Type “powered by Vbulletin”+keyword

(You have a lot of forum software that you could use instead of “powered by Vbulletin”. Check in

    http://www.forum-software.org/forum-reviews

    Technique 4
If your good at HTML. You could distribute blogger, wordpress templates and etc placing your link at the bottom or as hidden link. But always give credit to the original designer. Or else who knows you could itself create a template and giveaway. You could distribute templates having your own blog or site, add to forums, or simply go to Google and type “submit template”. (you could also try “add” or any keyword that could do the work for you)=> (Sort of Link bait technique)

    Technique 5
Suppose if your good at programming you probably would want to create your own small program and submit to 1000 software shareware/freeware directories (Sort of Link bait technique).Use promosoft to submit it to over 700 shareware directories.

    Technique 6
Searching for Edu and Gov links to comment

    site:.gov inurl:wp-login.php +blog

    site:.edu inurl:”wp-admin” +login

site:.edu “no comments” +blogroll -”posting closed” -”you must be logged in” -”comments are closed”

site:.gov “no comments” +blogroll -”posting closed” -”you must be logged in” -”comments are closed”

inurledu|gov) “no comments” +blogroll -”posting closed” -”you must be logged in” -”comments are closed”

Manipulate the above techniques in various ways to your understanding and requirement. Example you could also search for edu forums.

    Things to remember

    • Link is a link. Dont only bother for niche links.
    • Always use pingler or ping-o-matic after placing a link.
    • Use Autro Social bookmarking softwares after placing your link.

How to Dominate Google. What You Need To Know! Part 1

I can’t tell you how important Search Engine Optimization is for a website.  It could literally mean the difference between, utter failure and a multi million dollar website.  But yet, I find it hard to believe that many don’t make it a priority.   This can be for a number of reasons. Some are intimidated by it, some are just ignorant to it, and some are just too lazy to implement it.

Well I am here to tell you guys that SEO is not brain surgery, and if done properly, you can reap the rewards.   It is actually a very simple process to understand.  With a little patience, motivation, and time, anyone with a basic understanding of  web development can succeed.

This will be my first report of many that I will write over the next month or so regarding the

    You Need Good Content!

This is one of the biggest mistakes I see people make with their websites. They do not ad enough content to their website, and if they do they do not insert the keywords that they are trying to target. Some even make the mistake of adding to many images on their home page.  Little hint guys. Google’s spiders do not read images.  They read the “alt tag” of the image, but not the words inside an image.

So basically, the first thing you want is good content on your pages.  DO NOT copy other people’s content from anywhere on the web. You will be thrown into a supplemental index, that no one will read and is basically SEO suicide. Always write your own content, and if you are not good at writing content, hire a professional copywriter.  If you need a good copy writer CLICK HERE. A good copy writer will make sure that your content is keyword rich, and is highly optimized for your keywords, without looking unnatural.

Other things to consider with content:

    1) Keyword saturation should be around 2-5% through out the page. So basically if you are trying to target “dog training”, you want that keyword scattered throughout your content and be 2-5% of the keyword.

    2) Use alt tags for your images. Alt tags are a way to explain your images with keywords. Since Google’s spiders do not read images, they read the alt tags.  Alt tags look like this.

    <a href=”http://yourwebsite.com” target=”_blank”><img src=”http://yourwebsite.com/2j.png” border=”0″ alt=”ENTER YOUR KEYWORD DESCRIPTION HERE”></a>

**Hint- When organizing your page, try to put relevant images with alt tags relevant to the content near each other.  Get it?

    Title Tags

Proper title tags are important.  Titles tags has been, and most likely will always be one of the most important factors in acheiving high search engine ranking.

So what is a title tag?

The title tag is an HTML tag with text describing a specific Web page (but not visually displayed on the page). The title tag should contain strategic keywords for the page and be constructed following specific guidelines.

Here is what title tags look like in the search engine if you already don’t know..

    alt tags for WebTraffic2night.com

Here is what they look like in your source code. Notice where it says <title>Your Title Here</title>

    title tag in source code

I see a ton of website that try to stuff tons of keywords into their title. With my experience this is just not effective. It is most effective when you use 2-3 keyword, that are relevant to your keyword in your content.

    For example:

<title>DogTraining.com: Dog Training | Dog Training Tips | Train My Dog</title>

Or if you want to lazer target your page do something like this.

    <title>DogTraining.com: Dog Training Tips</title>

Now, another thing that is important is you want to make sure that each individual page has different title tags. It is a waste if your title tag is the same on every page of your website.  If you are selling hardwood flooring for example:

    Home Page:

    <title>Products-Limited.com: Hardwood Flooring Specialist</title>

Say they have a Brazilian Cherry Page:

    <title>Products-Limited.com: Brazilian Cherry Hardwood</title>

Or a Pre-finished oak hardwood page:

    <title>Products-Limited.com: Pre-finished Hardwood Flooring</title>

*Bonus Tip: Make sure that your titles are under 70 characters (letters) in length. Anything more than 70 will be truncated by Google and will not show on the results page.

You get the idea right? It is important to make sure that Google sees each page individual to the other.  This will help you achieve higher ranking over time.

Stay tuned! In the next few days I will be writing about Backlinking, and why it is the most important aspect of Google’s algorithms.

    About Us

Hello. My name is John Stover, and I am the owner of WebTraffic2night.com.  I started full time in Internet Marketing in January of 2008.  I understand how tough it can be for many to digest all the information that is available out there about online advertising, from SEO, Classified advertising, press releases, ect.  Therefor, I want to dedicate this blog for those who are looking to learn all aspects of online advertising and marketing.

How to Get Your Website Indexed Fast!

So you have a website built and it looks good. All the content is real good, and even your girlfriend likes it. So what is next? Well first you have to let the search engines know you are there. Below are some simple ways to get your website indexed super quick.

    1. Submitting your Sites RSS feed to RSS directories
    2. Submitting URLs and RSS feeds to Social Bookmarking Ping sites
    3. Submitting classified ads with your links in the ads.
    4. Set up quick accounts on sites like Cubestats, or Alexa

    RSS Feed Submissions.

There are two ways to build and submit RSS feeds, manually and free, or automatically and investing a bit of cash in getting that
    automation.

To create an RSS feed manually I can do not better than to point you at this tutorial which explains how to do it by hand, using notepad. Of course you only need to do this for sites that do not already have an RSS feed (you saved all those RSS feed URLs when you created the sites right…?).

When it comes to submitting your RSS feed for free, probably the best free resources for doing so feedsubmitter.com and ipings.com
which will submit a single RSS feed to 10-20 services. There is 38 also a list of 50+ sites in the resources section. The problem is that it takes time to submit each feed one at a time. Wouldn’t it be great if there was something out there that did it for
    you in seconds?

I use this great little program to submit my RSS feeds automatically to 58 RSS directory sites: RSS Feed Submitter
    Social Bookmarking

There are two ways to quickly submit a page to social bookmarking sites such as Digg and Stumbleupon. The first way is to add what
are known as “bookmarklets” to the bookmarking toolbar in the Firefox browser, and the second is to use a program to automate it
on a grand scale. So lets set-up a load of bookmarklets on our bookmarking toolbar in Firefox. Obviously you will need a copy of Firefox, if you do not already use it. You then need to reveal the bookmarking toolbar, by going to the View menu in Firefox, selecting toolbars, and then
    selecting Bookmarks toolbar.

Next click on these links one by one and follow the instructions for installing each bookmarklet, which usually just means dragging an icon to the Bookmarking toolbar and then releasing your mouse button to place it there.

Another method that takes a bit more time to set-up, but is ultimately far more effective is to use Social Marker. I highly
recommend you take the time to discover the how powerful it can be for you.

    Pinging
Pinging is a process of notifying a variety of services that you have updated content, through sending a “ping”. The most used ping
    service is ping-o-matic.

    For Ping-o-matic do this:
    1. Right click on your Bookmarking toolbar in Firefox.
    2. Select “new bookmark”.
    3. Name it “Pingomatic”.
    4. Copy and paste the code below into the location field.
    5. Save it.
    javascript:(function(){var%20url=encodeURIComponent(window.location);var
    %20name=encodeURIComponent(document.title);%20var%20rss%20=”;var
    %20links=document.getElementsByTagName(’link’);for%20(i=0;i%3Clinks.length;i++)
    {if(links[i].getAttribute(’type’)%20==%20′application/rss+xml’)
    %20rss=encodeURIComponent(links[i].getAttribute(’href’));}
    %20window.location=’http://pingomatic.com/ping/?
    title=’+name+’&blogurl=’+url+’&rssurl=’+rss+’&chk_weblogscom=on&chk_blogs=on&chk_technorati=on&ch
    k_feedburner=on&chk_syndic8=on&chk_newsgator=on&chk_myyahoo=on&chk_pubsubcom=on&chk_blog

    =on&chk_newsisfree=on&chk_topicexchange=on&chk_google=on&chk_tailrank=on&chk_bloglines=on’;})()
    40

    My personal recommendation on
this is Bookmarking Demon. This program is the most automated you can get. Simply install, add details, and go.

    Classified Adveriting Websites

Goolge loves classified websites like Craigslist, Backpage, and USfreeAds. They spiders these site hourly, which gives you a great chance of being indexed super fast. Simply throw you ad up, and ad all the links you want to index in the ad.  Backpage is great for this because you can throw 100 links in the ad if you want.

    Stats Pages

This is simple. Just replace yourdomain.com with the name of your website, then copy and paste each link in your browser and in 10 minutes or less job is done. This will also give you some low level backlinks to your website.

Video Comment Posting? Ad It To The Arsenal!

    Video Responses

If you do any video marketing at all, then you should immediately add video responses to
your marketing arsenal. This is a very simple technique you can use to dramatically
increase your YouTube video views. I’ve used this one simple tactic to get thousands of
extra views on a single video.

Unfortunately, I see very few people taking advantage of this powerful technique…

    Here’s how you do it:
First, you’ll need to upload a video to YouTube.com.
Next you’ll need to find a related video that has LOTS of views. So, for example, if I
create a video about dog training, then I would look for a related video about dog training
    that has lots of views.

Here’s a good example: Video Example

This is a great video about dog training that’s received over 100,000 views. That’s
definitely the type of video that you would want to post a video response to.
So you after you find a popular related video, you would then post a video response. To
do this, you’ll need to look underneath the video in the section called “Video Responses”.
On the right hand-side you’ll see a blue link that says “Post a Video Response”.
Click on that link and you will then be taken to a page where you can post a video
    response.

Click on the link in the middle that say, “Choose a Video”. From here you will choose
one of the videos you have already uploaded on YouTube and click on the button that
says, “Respond with This Video”. You need to choose a related video to post a video
    response to.

Now, once you have posted a video response, you can go back to the
video and you will now see that your video is listed in the Video Responses section.
As you can imagine, if you have posted a video response to a very popular video, you can
get thousands of views coming to your video from the video response you’ve just posted.
This is one of the easiest ways to divert traffic to your videos.

Don’t take this strategy for granted. It’s EXTREMELY powerful and it has
brought thousands of extra visitors to my videos. Simply find popular videos that are
related to yours and post a video response.

How to post on Craiglist 12-5-2009

OK, so I thought I would start out my first blog post by putting up my newest observations for correctly posting on Craigslist.  Those of you who don’t market on Craigslist, may want to considerit.  Craiglist gets over 53 million unique visitors per month, and over a billion page views.  That is 1/3 of the adult population in the  United States. Having multiple post on Craiglist can drive massive amounts of targeted traffic to your website.

    Emails/CL Accounts/PVA(Phone Verified Accounts)

There are 3 ways to use accounts with Craigslist.

One is just using your email, and verifying the link in your email. **This is the least used method anymore on a bulk level, and you will get ghosted A LOT! Craigslist seems to like accounts. Two, Non-Phone Verified Accounts. If you have a clean IP you can use Non-PVA accounts which don’t require a phone verification. You can use NON-PVAs in every section except All Services, and Adult Gigs. Three, is Phone Verified Accounts (PVAs). PVAs are always required in the services section, and the adult gigs, and if you have a soft blocked IP, you need them in every section.

OK, so Craigslist has basically gone on a rampage in the last few months, and are blocking IP pools like crazy. The difference between a clean IP, and a soft blocked IP is that, a soft blocked account will require a phone verified account. If the IP is clean, a CL account(non PVA) or email is required.

**In my experience you will get ghosted a lot less if you use CL accounts(non PVAs), and Phone Verified Accounts (PVAs)**

The only place people seem to getting clean IPs anymore that post in bulk is either by DSL, or Dial Up. Most broadband cards, almost all proxies have been soft blocked. **If you go the proxy route, DO NOT use free proxies. Most of these are junk, and have been blocked by CL.

**If you use PVAs, and NON PVAs, CL will put them on hold. It’s part of the gig. If your accounts gets put on hold, just forget about it, move on, and buy or make new accounts. The general rule is try not to post more than one ad per 48 hours per account. You can do 1-2 ads per account, but you risk them getting put on hold much faster**

    Titles

Try to variate your titles as much as possible. If you use software, you can use what are called tokens, which will variate them. If not you will just want to create a swipe file with a multitude of titles to choose from.

If you are posting 50 ads, try to have at least 20 titles. You hypothetically could post the same title if you are posting on separate accounts, but the next day you will have to create a whole new title for each ad, or you will get the duplicate ad error message.

    **Google Loves CL**
Do some proper keyword research, and try to variate those titles with the keywords interchanged within the ads. Not all of CL has do follow tags, but if the page does, you can sometimes see the ad on the first page of Google within hours.

This is especially good with local businesses. For example “Plumbing Service In Los Angeles”, “Affordable Plumbing Service Los Angeles CA”. Use your keyword with the city, and bam, you can get first page rank a good amount of time depending on the competition. Backpage.com, and Kijiji.com are also great for this.

    Ad Content

I personally only use image ads. Text ads are just so annoying with all the filters CL has, and words that trip them. I make every ad into a picture file. There are a million ways to do this, but use screen shot software to capture your image, and then upload it to Photobucket. This is the fast way to do it. I use Jing (ww . jingproject .com), which is a free screen shot software. Another popular screen shot video is Snagit. I did a couple video on my YouTube channel on how I make clickable images. Just look up WebsiteTrafficDude, and you’ll see them.

If I want a very professional ad I just pay my designer to builds the image ad for me for $50. This guy does killer image ads for $50 www. NextDayOnline .com You can also build the image ad yourself in Paint, or Photoshop.

Now, what you want to do is create yourself multiple Photobucket accounts. Let’s just say you want to post 50 ads per day. For that I would create 5 accounts, and I would upload 10 individual images per account. **It can be the same image, just rename the file 10 different times** For example: original image file name is jstover77…I would then rename it 10 times, and create multiple names for it. Usually I will just name them strings of numbers. Sounds like a lot of work, but it really isn’t when you get the hang of it. There are people that make image uploaders, so look around, and you will find one.

    **Important**
After each account created, just clear your cookies, and cache just to be safe.

Also, don’t create more then 10 accounts on the same IP, or photo*bucket will block you.

The most important thing is just making sure that each ad body is somewhat unique and has some random text related to your category. Make sure you change your image files every week or two to keep them fresh.

    Links in Your Ad

I do not put links in my ads, cause it just leaves a footprint for CL. What I do is put the URL in the image ad. From my experience, if the person is to lazy to type in your URL in the browser they are most likely not going to buy anything from you anyways.

Now if you are hell bent on using a URL in your ad or a clickable image, then you best buy up a bunch of domains, and redirect them to your main site. Otherwise using the same URL will get you blocked sooner than later. If you are in need of a redirect service, there is a guy in the Troopal forum that sells it.

    Flagged Ads/Ghosted Ads

Ghosting occurs when it shows green in your account, and says it is posted, yet it never shows up. Ghosting happens to even the best posters. I would say 10-20% is the norm. If you are getting ghosted more than that, you need to strip your ad down, and figure out what it is that is causing the ghosting. Start with the ad content/image. Next try a new title. Then try another account. Ect, ect…

Flagging occurs all over Craigslist. There is just so many loosers out there who have wayyyyyyyy to much time on their hand, and God only knows why they sit there and flag like it’s their job. If you ads are very spammy, then you will get this a lot. If you are selling a legit product or service it is usually a competitor. I post a lot of ads in services, and I rarely get flagged there.

Unfortunately you can not control flagging, it’s part of the gig. Here is one thing I do if I know it is a competitor. Email them and tell them you know they are flagging your ad, and if they do not stop, you will just flag right back. On top tell them you have flagging software that is push button, and will flag according to keywords. Tell them if they don’t stop you will flag all their ads. Trust me this will work 90% of the time. If your ads are spammy, don’t even waste you time.

    Changing Your IP

This is the single most important thing you need to do. You must rotate IP addresses regularly. I try to not post more than 2-3 ads per IP per day. Preferably you only want to post 1 ad per IP per day. Many people don’t understand how to change your IP, but it really isn’t that complicating if you know what you are doing.

Here is the list of ways you can change you IP.

Dial Up- simply disconnect, and reconnect, and you have a new IP. Try to use a lesser known dial up company in your area. The IP pools tend to not be used and abused.

DSL- a lot of people like Verizon due to the large amount f IP pools they have. To change your IP with DSL, just reset you modem.

Proxies- If you can find a vendor that sells exclusive proxies, then this is a good route to go. Most proxies will come like this IP:Port:User:Pass. If you can find a good vendor then they should give you directions on how to use them. It’s a very simple process. You can just go to the Proxy section here and you will find a bunch of vendors.

IP Rental- You can rent IPs from IP rental (www. IPrental .com) **Note** Almost all of IP rentals IPs are softblocked, so you will need PVAs to post with these. Right now this is my favorite option right now, because you can geo target the area where the proxy is located.

Broadband- Simply disconnect, and reconnect. Be careful though. CL knows all the broadband providers IP pools, and your accounts will get put on hold much faster than some of these other tactics

Cable- Not worth it unless you know how to screw around with MAC addresses, and IP config release.

FIOs- Forget about it. Not even worth it.
